Engineering Technician - HVAC & Ductwork projects

Summary:
The Engineering Technician supports project execution across HVAC and sheet‑metal ductwork fabrication and installation projects. This role focuses on project tracking, documentation, coordination with internal teams (estimating, drafting, fabrication, installation), and communication with customers and management. The technician will assist in closing project estimates, preparing project status reports, and ensuring project activities remain aligned with schedule and scope requirements. Knowledge of AutoCAD and strong project management skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Track project progress, schedules, milestones, and deliverables across multiple HVAC and ductwork installation projects.
  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams, contractors, and customers; document and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports for management and customers, including progress updates, risks, and pending actions.
  • Support the company estimator and draftsman in closing project estimates, validating quantities, reviewing drawings, and confirming scope alignment.
  • Assist in coordinating fabrication and installation activities, ensuring alignment with approved drawings and project timelines.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, revisions, RFIs, change orders, and approvals.
  • Communicate proactively with customers regarding project updates, schedule changes, and required decisions.
  • Support quality checks of ductwork fabrication and installation activities to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with field supervisors to monitor installation progress and identify potential delays or resource needs.
  • Ensure all project activities follow company procedures, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
  • Education:  Bachelor´s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering OR bachelor´s degree in Business Administration / Project Management
  • 1-3 years of related experience in HVAC, construction, ductworks, piping or related work environments.
  • 1-3 years of experience on technical project coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • scheduling, tracking, reporting, and documentation.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, ductwork layouts, and fabrication details.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Languages: Spanish and English (written and verbal).

Work Methodology:

  • Professional services or W2 Temp job with potential to be transitioned into a W2 regular job.
  • Location:  San Lorenzo, PR (office)
  • Wiling to visit customers and projects in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands
  • US active passport is required.
  • PR active driving license is required.
  • Full time job: Monday to Friday, wiling to support non admin schedules
  • Administrative work shift.
